In addition to her consulting work, Lauren is an accomplished opera singer. Praised for her commanding stage presence and artistry, lyric soprano Lauren Agosta graduated with a Masters degree in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She received her Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude from Northwestern University in Vocal Performance with a minor in English.

Lauren performed the role of Blanche in Francis Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites as part of the Opera Academy of California’s Summer Festival. She was an apprentice artist at the Castleton Festival. She has had the honor of singing in master classes with Maestro Lorin Maazel, Martin Katz, Lotfi Mansouri, and, one of her favorite composers, Jake Heggie. While at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Lauren performed the roles of Corina in David Conte’s Firebird Motel and Jessie in Kurt Weill’s Mahagonny Songspiel conducted by Kathy Cathcart. She also sang Luciano Berio’s Folk Songs with the New Music Ensemble conducted by Nicole Paiemant. She performed with Opera Parallèle in John Harbison’s The Great Gatsby.

Recently, Lauren has been writing her first opera, a family drama based on the life and death of her mother. About the opera, in Lauren's words:

“On August 19, 2011, my mother passed away. Her death was complicated, heartbreaking, and too soon, yet, her last months epitomized the way she lived her life. She brought laughter, love, and light into the house; and people came from around the world to honor her, party with her, and celebrate her life while she was on hospice and again when she passed.

My opera focuses on the life and death of my mom: her story, as encapsulated by the final years of her life. It is a story not just of her illness and death, but of her spirit and the lasting impact she had on all those who met her. While my mom is the star of the show, the story will follow my family coming to terms with her loss, and the ways that it both tore us apart and brought us together.”
